STRESS REDUCTION
On February 3rd of this year, after practicing yoga for some ten years and with her diploma of training, Alexandra Urvina received a “birthday gift from the universe” with the opening of her Just OM Yoga studio in South Miami.
A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Alexandra moved to Miami in 2010 with her husband and two boys. Running a printing business in Caracas took its toll, and she began to practice yoga to reduce stress in her life. It was a powerful transformation, and learning to live “more in the moment.”
At Just OM Yoga, she with seven other certified teachers are building a community of like-minded practitioners. It is an intimate studio, where you don’t have to stress-out prior to class looking for a parking space – there’s free parking at the studio located on Red Road just south of Sunset Drive.
Alexandra studied the Baptiste methodologies, including Power Yoga, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hatha, Skanda and Kripalu. The one hour fifteen minute weekday classes offer practitioners a mixed and integrated style of yoga. (Saturday classes are 1 1/2 hours).
In the studios, Just OM Yoga partners with Zensations, headed for the past three years by Clarines Valenzuela. Zensations (formerly Better Health Care Center) is a holistic center providing healing services, massage, Ayurveda, alternative treatments, and they are also bioenergetics counselors.
Just OM Yoga is open Monday through Saturday, workshops are held on Sundays. A “Yoga for Kids” program is being developed and every other Friday, there’s another way to get into the weekend, with a “Happy Hour Yoga.”

DAZZLING DETAIL
After two years of searching for a location in South Miami, Razzle Dazzle entrepreneur Elena Linares recently opened her newest location right on Sunset Drive across from The Shops at Sunset Place.
For Elena, it’s a return to South Miami, where she opened the Super Cuts here in the early 1980s. A licensed cosmetologist, she was a Super Cuts franchisee with twelve locations in Key West, Miami Beach and Puerto Rico.
Many know Elena also from Randazzo’s Little Italy restaurant in Coral Gables. And that’s actually how the name of her men’s barbershop came about: “You were the razzle and dazzle of Randazzo’s,” exclaimed a fan.
In the past five years, Elena has expanded her men’s barbershop concept, first in Coral Gables, then in Mary Brickell Village, on South Beach and now in SOMI. “South Miami is ‘on fire’” exclaims Elena. “It’s got a vibrant energy and has some of the hottest boutiques and restaurants in Miami.” In addition to the men’s barbershop, Elena also owns a RD Blow Bar for women in Coral Gables.
At Razzle Dazzle, gentlemen can enjoy a classy, professional experience. “Men need more than just a spray down and cut. We offer a great ambiance and an incredible experience.”
Services offered are shaving and grooming, including hot shave, straight razor shave, mustache and beard trim and shaping. Also available are “indulgent necessities” such as wash and hairstyling, scalp, neck and shoulder massage, hand and foot care, and even a shoe or boot shine.
“And you know we hit a home run with our concept, when women come in and purchase gift certificates to please their guys,” says Elena.

Moving into their ultra hi-tech penthouse suite in the 7000 Building on 62 Avenue endodontists Faustino D. Garcia and Oscar J. Peguero, Jr. are definitely thrilled with the new capabilities to treat patients.
Both are products of Belin Jesuit, with Dr. Garcia doing his dental studies at the University of Florida and endodontic training at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Peguero graduated from Vanderbilt University, and then went to the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where in 2009 he received his D.D.M. He did his specialty training in the Department of Endodontics at the Tufts University. The fdgendo penthouse is decorated with “Fausti’s” surfboards and stunning works of artby his wife Desiree.
