On a beautiful Saturday morning in early November, volunteers converged on the South Miami Aquatic Center to add some life to a bare wall and create a colorful mural to be enjoyed by all those at the Murray Park aquatic center.
South Miami Hospital partnered with the City of South Miami and Art South to bring life to the mural. Local artist Gail Alexander was assisted by Windel Rogers in outlining the mural on the 10 foot x 72 foot wall. Over 50 volunteers, consisting of South Miami Hospital employees, family and friends, city residents, elected officials and Art South employees participated in a “color in the lines” painting project.
ArtSouth is now relocating to South Miami, Over the past 13 years, ArtSouth, a non-profit corporation, has grown into a remarkable cultural arts center and artists’ community in Homestead. They bring their expertise in running a full-service arts center in South Miami for the neighborhood families.
