The spiny lobster (Panulirus argus) sport season is the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday of July each year. Regulated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a limit is set for 6 lobsters per person per day for the Biscayne National Park. The minimum size for the carapace is larger than 3”, measured in the water, and possession and use of a measuring device is required at all times.
For the tournament, we’re not looking at minimums. The 2013 Spiny Lobster King was 20 year old Joshua Lewis with a 5.02 pound catch (pictured below).
