With a mid-November opening, Shelley’s is the new go to in SOMI for great bites and drinks. The restaurant is quaint and cozy, with a décor that is nostalgic, comfortable and coastal clean. Partner Brian Griffiths says “We opened with the goal of serving fresh seafood and bottled cocktails to guests in an inclusive, fun, and laid-back environment.”

Owner Brian Griffiths (R) and Chef Cleo

Griffiths has 7 years in the restaurant/bar business, Chef Cleophus leads the team at Shelley’s, a Seafood Bar by Bad JuJu. And complimenting Chef Cleo’s fish camp-inspired cuisine, is a bar program featuring domestic wines, local craft beers, and a cocktail program showcasing bottled, draft, and frozen cocktails.

In a “hat’s off” to the historic South Miami district, owners Brian Griffiths and Dan Sandburg, named the restaurant after the historic Shelley building where it is located.  “We want to be ‘the restaurant’ that serves the neighborhood.” Come on down.

Shelley’s is open Tuesday – Saturday, serving lunch from 11:30a -3:30p; dinner from 4:30 -11p.  Sunday brunch

Opening in mid-November, Jenna White Kaplan was jubilant to note that “We are excited to present over 40 children’s clothing, decor, accessory, book and toy collections from all over the world.”  Her idea was to create magical, novelty, and dreamland that embodies all the fantastical ideals of being a kid.   At Jenna White Kids, they will carry both girls & boys ages newborn to 12 years old.  Inspred by her own son, seven year old Jesse, Jenna says “It was important to me to not only have incredible girl’s designers, but to make sure the boys were equally represented.  I think I created something that he would love just as much s I do”. It was key to curate collections that parents and kids would appreciate equally-always finding special qualities in every piece. “I want my son to see how much love I put into this and to know he inspired the overall vibe of the store.”

CraveClean Protein Bakery was started by Miami native and fitness fanatic, Francesca Morello, who started the bakery out of the struggle of finding a delicious, yet guilt-free snack.  Instead of eating the protein bars she turned to that were packed with sugar, her go-to is her very own Choco-Oat cupcake which blends banana and chocolate chips, making it an any-time-of-day snack.  She “has kicked carbs and calories to the curb, creating healthy snacks that don’t taste like punishment” as noted in an article published in Peter Max, May/June 2014.

Francesca Morello & Claire Going

Craveclean offers a selection of protein based muffins, brownies, cookies, cakes, cupcakes and more sweet treats. The overriding principle is::”if you don’t recognize an ingredient your body won’t either.  We pride ourselves on bridging the gap between fitness and foodies.  All our bakes are loaded with protein, have less than 1g sugar and are low calorie/low carb!  It’s not just a bakery. it’s a lifestyle!”

Business partners, Francesca Morello and Claire Going, referring to themselves as the “tag team duo” opened the protein bakery on Red Road in early November.  Craveclean has another location on Eighth Street and Ponce.  Claire was born and raised in South Africa and comes from a family of cooks.  She and Francesca met a few years ago, and have become partners in managing baking and sales.

Craveclean is open Mon-Thurs 7-7; Fri-Sat 7-8, Sun 8-6.
