WILD FOR MIAMI

The ChamberSOUTH Governmental Affairs Committee hosted a presentation by Jack Illes of Miami Wilds, LLC.

The development of land around ZOO Miami has been in discussion for some twenty years as funding through a county bonds program had proposed.

As Jack Illes envisions the convergence of nature, culture and entertainment on 300 acres of land which has seen 12,000 years of human habitation. The proposed $930 million project has nine elements including theme park rides, 4-D attractions, seasonal water park, 400-room hotel and performance venue, 30,000 square foot retail and restaurant village, an outdoor area for sports, a landscaped pedestrian and bicycle path, and a 1.5 mile transportation link that unifies the
project’s elements.

County Commissioner Dennis Moss and other backers of the development tout it as a much-needed economic engine for South Miami-Dade.  Revenues generated over years from land lease to Miami Wilds, LLC, and an estimated $6.7 million a years in bed and local option sales tax would be a great stimulus for the county.

The General Membership Breakfast is held on the last Friday of the month at Dadeland Marriott.  For information on becoming a member of ChamberSOUTH please call 305.661.1621 or log onto:
