FROM THE PUBLISHER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
CHANGE IS INEVITABLE – AND WELCOME…
Welcome to somiXV!
I usually like to change things up every five years; sometimes they are subtle changes. Well on our 15th the changes are not such… new format, new graphics throughout, and now publishing seasonally with Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall editions. On the prior pages, we’ve highlighted changes over the life of the magazine. We always like to sharpen the creative edge in presenting SOMI.
Our first somiXV cover feature in the planned Colombian Sculpture Garden in Dante Fascell Park. We were privileged to host President Duque for a formal announcement of establishing the Sculpture Garden, a project of our Sister-City program with Medellin, Colombia. You can read more about this on page 12 and the feature starting on page 31.
In this issue, read about The Dolphins Cancer Challenge in year 10. Over the course of these years, some $32.5 million has been raised for cancer research at the UHealth Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The magazine continues presenting the Underline Report, up-dating our readership on the developments of this monumental urban project. In this edition, the role of Fairchild Tropical Garden is discussed.
Check out What’s New in Town as we highlight some of the new businesses investing in our community. Your support of our local businesses is so critical all year round.
We strive to bring our readership an informative, fun and quality product for those who appreciate living, working, shopping dining and playing in our hometown. And to introduce somi XV, we know we are “The Magazine that makes you LOVE everything about SOMI.”
All the best as we enjoy the “winter months” here in South Florida.
It appears as though the Fox’s property is still available at 6030 S Dixie, though the Salty donuts has opened next door and pending is a Ooh Raw juice bar. What the Loopnet says is that 6030 space is pending, so its rather contradicting in the Loopnet site. What about the Fox’s sign and the missing tail? They want to put a bar in that spot as it has a grandfathered liquor license. Any info on this iconic space would be appreciated.
