SWEARING IN CEREMONIES
At the South Miami City Hall Chambers on November 18, 2024 two re-elected officials (without opposition) mayor Javier Fernandez and now vice-mayor Brian Corey, together with newly elected commissioner Danny Rodriguez were sworn into office for their respective terms. Family members did the honors for each elected official.

Among other city matters, the newly constituted city commission will be overseeing the rezoning and land-use map changes for the city’s commercial core on both sides of US1 with the recently adopted Transit Development District legislation. Sunset Drive (72nd Street) and the two streets to the south, 73rd & 74th will have height and density changes coming with the new plan.
