The first Sunday in December is a treasured day to remember, as hundreds of youngsters in holiday attire take to Sunset Drive for the one of the best South Miami family-friendly events, Santa’s Parade of the Elves. Now in its 41st year, with over 60 organizations participating, this year’s parade saw record attendance as people were jammed packed on both sides of Sunset Drive. UM’s Sylvester and Billy the Marlin were this year’s grand marshals. The St. Andrew Pipe Band made its decades-long annual appearance as a parade highlight. Prior to the 2p parade start, families enjoyed holiday photo ops, snow sliding, petting zoo, dancing on Sunset, and more fun activities. Santa’s Parade of The Elves is sponsored by the City of South Miami in partnership with Miami Kids Magazine.
