The Arsht Center will pull out all the stops to celebrate its 10th Anniversary Season. On Thursday, April 21, 2016, Gala Concert Live offers star-studded performances in dance, pop, gospel, classical, jazz, and more.
Andy Cohen, Emmy Award-winning Bravo TV host, producer, and best-selling author will emcee the event that features the Alvin Ailey American Dane Theater led by Miamian Robert Battle; a performance by Craig Salstein, principal dancer of American Ballet Theatre; Grammy, Emmy and Presidential Medal of Freedom Award-winner Arturo Sandoval; Michael Feinstein; and Rachel Platten, singer-songwriter. Community-based arts organizations and resident artists such as Florida Grand Opera Young Artists and Chorus (celebrating its 75th anniversary season); American Pops Orchestra conductor Luke Frazier conducts the multi-genre University of Miami Frost School of Music’s Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, with an appearance by musical director and pianist Shelly Berg, legendary Grammy Award-nominated piano artist and Dean of the Frost School of Music; and Miami Mass Choir, the Arsht Center’s resident gospel choir (celebrating its 20th anniversary). Tickets for the performance range from $25 to $125 and are available at the Arsht Center.
For Gala sponsors, the evening will also include opportunities to celebrate with community and business leaders beginning with a pre-show cocktail reception at 6 p.m.; premium seating for the concert in Ziff Ballet Opera House at 7:30 p.m.; and dinner on stage at 9 p.m. which will be transformed immediately following the concert into an enchanted springtime garden designed by acclaimed New York City event design company Cait & Jules. The evening will conclude with desserts and dancing.
The Adrienne Arsht Center’s 10th Anniversary Season Gala Concert Live’s Honorary Chairs are Sue Miller and Judy Weiser. Adrienne Arsht, the Center’s name benefactor, will be honored for her extraordinary and ongoing commitment to the Center. Gala proceeds will support the Center’s mission-driven arts education and community outreach programs, which enrich the lives of people of all ages in South Florida.
