THE WIRTZ GALLERY
Located in the lobby of the FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF SOUTH MIAMI, each month The Wirtz Gallery exhibits local and international artists. Gallery hours are: Monday – Thursday, 9a-4p; Friday, 9a-6p. Artist receptions are generally held on the second Friday of the month from 6-7p, and are open to the public. The bank is located at 5750 Sunset Drive, South Miami.
During the month of August, the gallery is exhibiting works by members of the bank staff and their families. Five of the arts presenting are: Joseph Arnaez, a self-taught wood worker, creates unique concepts and turns them into layered wooden masterpieces.
Sandra Conde, front desk Ambassador of Customer Service, has her two children exhibiting in the gallery. Amanda, 18 years, is a self-taught photographer who one day just picked up a camera and was able to capture the personality and feelings of her subjects. Son William, 24 years, is an artist by nature who does portraits, sketches and anime drawings but by trade he is a graphic designer which is his passion.
Photographer Hector Garcia, a Treasury Services Representative, says that “I don’t want people to look at my pictures and say that they wish they were there. I want them to come with me and discover wild Miami.” [email protected]_tours”
Jennifer Gonzalez, Regional Operations Manager and Personal Banking Officer, created this piece as a high school senior in 1996. She notes “We were given the task of recreating an original work. I was immediately drawn to Michael Wright’s shapes and vibrant colors. It was a great experience to take on the challenge, and I think I was able to make it very much my own.”
