Helping with people with disabilities – the ride and the challenge.
The 2022 Miami Challenge is scheduled for Friday, November 8th. Join Tour de France champion Chris Froome and other cycling legends George Hincapie, and Christian Vande Velde for the 75-mile ride. Starting and finishing at the Ritz-Carlton on Miami Beach and with two full serviced rest stops. riders will be escorted and followed in a closed peloton in presidential-style police rolling enclosure by 23 MPD motors.
In anticipation of the November event, training rides are held throughout the year with two major full route rides held. Photos here are from the April 23, 2022 training ride. Mack Cycle & Fitness, an event sponsor, serves as a rest stop for the Challenge and the training rides throughout the year. Featuring two fully stocked rest stops, waterfront views, and a ride through some of the most historic and scenic locations in Miami, South Beach and Key Biscayne, The Challenge is open to all ages and abilities and includes professional athletes, high-profile personalities as well as the active participation of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies International is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
