South Miami is burgeoning with new developments, some under construction, others on the drawing boards and others on the minds of landowners.
In the SOMIonline Spring issue we covered the approved new AvalonBay Communities South Miami Part Two with its 16 stories towering over our historic designed buildings and a reimagined Dorn Avenue. In this edition, we follow the construction of new residential units on the west side of US1 on Sunset Drive, across from the city hall campus on the site of the former Bank United building.
The Edge at Sunset
This is a 10-story, 316-unit multi-family project by Alta Developers, located at 6075 Sunset Drive. The new residential units are nestled in a high-density urban setting of SoMi’s vibrant restaurant and retail district and steps away from the South Miami Metrorail Station and U.S.1. The development will have 3,718 SF of leasable ground level retail space. Architects are MSA; Interior design is by Hebra Interiorismo of Valencia, Spain. Completion date, late summer 2027.
