On Friday, February 26 2021 The Underline’s first phase Brickell Backyard is open. Thanks to our partner Miami-Dade County Dept of Transportation and Public Works, we have completed construction of the first half mile of The Underline.
Where is the Brickell Backyard?
Below Metrorail from the Miami River to Coral Way.
How big is it? One-half mile and 9 acres (when The Underline is complete it will be 10 miles long and be 120 acres).
What will I see? 30,000 new native trees and plants, birds, butterflies, areas to sit, walk, bike, play and even socialize your dog.
What can I do? Hang out on oolite boulders or walk your dog in the River Room, eat at the 50 foot Dining Table or take a Selfie at the Sound Stage Plaza sponsored by FPL in the Promenade, play basketball or soccer on the Flex Court sponsored by Swire Properties, take a jog or do some sit ups in The Gym sponsored by Baptist Health, and see The Allegory, our first art installation by artist Edny Jean Joseph in the Oolite Room.
What are the hours?
The Underline’s trails are lit at night and always open. The Gym is open from 7 am to 9 pm. You can find our park rules here.
Do I need to wear a mask?Following CDC guidelines, please wear a mask and practice 6’ social distancing. Hand sanitizers are available.
Who manages and maintains The Underline?
The Underline Conservancy is a 501(c)3 non-profit that manages, maintains and programs The Underline with a staff, maintenance crew and security team.
Who funds The Underline Conservancy?
With funding from Miami-Dade County and private donors like you, we welcome a donation of any amount here to make sure The Underline is beautiful on the day it opens and 20 years from now.
