Fendi Pre Fall 2-17 Collection

With our summer coming to a close, we dial down on our vacation time as fashion dials up the “IT” factor for the next up-and-coming season of collections. Taking a peek into what we expect will be a very exciting fall season, there is no room for error as the grades will prove your knowledge of these fashionable trends. With pre-fall 2017 looks already hitting department stores, we take a collegiate tour up the east coast in what is a tribute to the roots of Ivy League. The classics make a comeback with the presence of varsity sweaters, chic knit cardigans, accordion pleats and the clean, linear boathouse pinstripe.

Even with most of our university days fading to a distant memory, there is no reason to abandon the classic varsity stripe sweater. With its chic, plunging, V neckline, the staple pull-over of sports from yesteryear became this season’s driving inspiration for designers like Sonia Rykiel, Miu MIu, DVF and Givenchy. The inspiration wasn’t just limited to casual knits and classic styles but became prevalent in dresses, skirts and pants, where the usage of solid-color blocking kept the feel sophisticated and youthful.

You can almost feel how cozy the next trend item is due to its casual knit deliciousness as the season turns.  The cardigan sweater makes a triumphant return to the fashion scene as the classic staple for the studious Ivy Leaguer steps from the book racks and study halls to the catwalks of Dior, Rochas, Oscar de la Renta and Prabal Gurung.  This trend catapults into this season with an array of styles and designs, from clean, laser-cut fabrics to heavy cable knits, the cardigan sweater is a must-have for every fashionista looking to keep their style IQ in check.

For a hint of femininity, we turn to the classic accordion-pleated skirt in what is the resurgence of old-world bold turning a new leaf. As one of the top must-have garments for the season, this classic accordion is worn below the knee and paired as an evening ensemble or as a clean casual. Designers like Dior and Fendi opted for a more stylized look, while Roberto Cavalli and Public School went a more rugged direction and paired the pleats with leather moto-jackets and Band T-shirts for more street-style-approved wearability.

With spring giving us a colorful array of bold lines and stripes, fall brings back the simpler boathouse pin stripe. A take on the classic nautical colors we have come to know and love, this season is full of beautiful garments adorned in a high contrast of bold solid stripes on white. Collections by Altuzzara, Jonathan Simkahi and Monse seemed to just flow like running water in various silks and organza, making each representation of the fabric feel as though it’s ready for the next crew meet.

2017 seems to be flying by as we are already approaching the latter part of the year. Always keep in mind that fashion changes, but style remains eternal, in what is an ever-evolving cycle. Stay tuned as we continue to bring you the latest in seasonal trends and styles, while always keeping you in mind.
