The Best Buddies 2020 Miami Challenge brought top USA and international cyclists to Miami for this stellar event.  Four time Tour de France champion Chris Froome led the 70-mile police escorted ride through scenic Miami.  He was joined by former professional riders George Hincapie, Christian Van de Verde and Bobby Julich.

The presidential-style police rolling enclosure by 23 Miami motors, brought the 34 cyclists from Coconut Grove over the Julia Tuttle Causeway, back through Downtown Miami, over the Rickenbacker Causeway and into Key Biscayne.  A first rest stop was at South Miami’s Mack Cycle & Fitness, a presenting sponsor and official bike shop of the event. The ride continued through the iconic Coral Gables streets and down historic Calle Ocho before reaching Braman Miami for a second fully-catered rest stop. The last 25 miles featured five waterway crossings in Bal Harbour, Aventura, and Haulover Beach before finishing back in the Grove.

The participating cyclists are committed to raising $10,000 each to support Best Buddies International.  Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in 1989, Best Buddies International is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. (IDD).  Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
