WELCOME NEWS INDEED…
On March 25, SOMI Magazine learned that Brother Jimmy’s BBQ had executed a lease for the former Dan Marino’s space at the entrance to The Shops at Sunset Place.  It is expected that the 6,540 sq. ft. restaurant location will be fully gutted and rebuilt, with an anticipated opening in the late fall.

Brother Jimmy’s has celebrated over 20 years of legendary North Carolina, slow-smokin’ barbeque. As suggested by the restaurant’s slogan – “Put Some South in Yo’ Mouth” – Brother Jimmy’s mission is, to bring “down home” cooking, hospitality and merriment to its customers.

Brother Jimmy’s first location is in New York City on Second Avenue.  Five additional locations are in NYC, two others in New Brunswick (NJ) and San Juan.  Within the past year, the first location in Miami debuted at Mary Brickell Village.   Get ready SOMI!

TOTAL CUBE
Sunset Place has another new addition – the arrival of the first only in the USA of “Total Cube.”  Located on the 3rd level outside the AMC theaters, this licensed amusement ride will transport the adventurer into an absorbing 3D experience with fast, sharp movements.

The 9x9x9 screening and hydraulic motion simulator can accommodate four guests at a time.  Presented by Total Interactive Technology, guests can choose among six 3D movie shorts, from mild to wild: Ice Trap, Sky Runner, Mission Leviathon, Star Hammer, Moscow-NY Travel, and Last Floor.

Total Cube is open seven days: Monday-Thursday 5-11; Friday 4-12; Saturday 1-1; Sunday 3-11.

Admission is $5/pp during the weekdays and $8 over the weekend.

BREWSKIS
In the space formerly known as Cervezas, established restaurateurs and partners at the ever popular Bougie’s, Nick Lecat and Cesar Rincon, acquired the Sunset Drive watering hole on 12.12.12  (Nick likes that number!).

One beer is cerveza, many beers is cervezas.  However if you’re a New Yorker, beers are known as “brewskis” – a name that exudes fun.

Over the past couple of months, they have been busy making some subtle changes to the place, introducing a new color scheme, changing up the interior seating and lighting, “enhancing the ambiance” as Cesar notes. What hasn’t changed is they stock over 400 beers.  Soon the 14 taps will increase to 16, bringing the freshest form of beer to the customer, and with a focus on the craft beer industry here in Florida.  New GM for BrewskiS is Danny Andrews who will be introducing a Tuesday Tasting night from 8-12, and $4 Wednesday night.  For entertainment, Thursdays are Karaoke night; Fridays, Acoustic Night, focusing on local songwiters; Saturdays is BRL Night (BrewskiS Request Live), when customers can request a favorite song of the DJ.  For Nick and Cesar, the focus is on the customer experience, so if you haven’t been yet, make your way over to get a brewsky at BrewskiS, located at
5835 Sunset Drive.
