ChamberSOUTH hosted a first-ever hurricane preparedness breakfast panel on June 27th at the UM Alumni Center. This exclusive breakfast panel sponsored by Florida Power and Light, featured the newly appointed National Hurricane Director Ken Graham, FPL meteorologist Tim Drum, Chief Meteorologist-in-Charge, NWS/South Florida Pablo Santos, Chief meteorologist and Emmy Award winner Craig Setzer, Steve Detwiler with the Miami Dade County Office of Emergency Management and Dennis Feltgen, Communications and Public Affairs Office with the National Hurricane Center as Moderator.
The ChamberSOUTH guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast while listening to a presentation given by FPL on what the power utility giant plans to do differently this hurricane season. Moderator Dennis Feltgen addressed the panelists asking the hard-hitting questions everyone wants to know coming off the cusp of a tumultuous 2017 no thanks to Hurricane Irma! Towards the end of the breakfast program, the floor was opened to the audience for a Q & A opportunity. Multiple audience members from all over the South- Dade community voiced their concerns about what to expect this hurricane season, along with singing the praises of FPL and the National Hurricane Center for taking initiative in making sure our community is fully equipped for this coming year.
