NOT SO FAST!

In our Summer edition we looked at the prospect of “coming back to shades of our former selves” and a relaxation of certain pandemic restrictions. Masks were coming off…. And then things shifted again and the Delta variant brought new concerns. Over the course of the past 18 months, the one thing we’ve learned is: it’s not over ‘til it’s over, which I suspect will be months away.

Our cover feature is International Dining in SOMI. You won’t need your passport or travel too far from home to enjoy the international flavors served up at our SOMI restaurants. Eastern Mediterranean, Far East, Europe, the Caribbean and regional dishes in America are some of the highlights of your dining adventure written by senior life style writer Peter Laird. Bon appetit!

Great news for those cyclists out there. The South Miami one mile leg of The Underline, the ambitious 10 mile linear trail under the Metrorail, just got greener with a $3 million appropriation from the State Legislature – thank you Dade Delegation! And plans for the Ludlam Trail are being finalized and the dream of making the old FEC corridor a magnificent trail is yet closer to reality. Read more about these two major cycling initiatives on pages 23 and 24.

Come to meet and enjoy what our new business owners are showcasing here in town. Read about our new business activity on pages 28 and 29 in this edition.

As the hurricane season ramps up, we wish our readers a safe next few months.

All the best!
