The South Miami Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee organized a series of events to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the “I Have A Dream” speech by the civil rights leader. First up was the annual MLK Breakfast held at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center on Saturday, January 12, followed by a Gospel Explosion the next afternoon at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, South Miami’s oldest church, and the culminating event was the parade throughout the community and festivities held at the Murray Park field on Saturday, January 19.
