On Thursday evening, November 6, the Ponce Circle in Coral Gables was the site for the 4th annual Burgerliscious event benefitting the Coral Gables Community Foundation to support small business programs. The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce partnered with Samuel Adams to present the event. Almost all of the 24 restaurants vying for the covered “Best Buns” award showcased around the park were from Coral Gables. SOMI area restaurants participating were ROK:BRGR, Shake Shack, Shula’s 347 and Sushi Maki.
A team of judges including Coral Gables Mayor Jim Cason, Chat Chow TV’s Giovanny Gutierrez, Y100’s Nick Pena, Cassie Glenn of Yelp! Miami, Miami.com Editor Fred Gonzalez, and Laine Doss of Miami New Times had the task to taste and evaluate all the burger entries. 125 Bands performing, hundreds ate and drank while the judges were making their rounds.
“And the winner is: ROK:BRGR.” And a SOMI restaurant took the “Best Buns” Award.
