Getting it done.

Many know me to be riding my Cannondale in and around South Miami as a dedicated commuter cyclist for the past twenty-eight years. And so, I’m delighted that as The Underline project is wrapping up its ambitious 10-mile linear trail under the Metrorail, with anticipated completion later this year, focus is being directed to the seemingly forgotten Ludlam Trail. SOMI magazine has been a media community partner of The Friends of the Underline since before its ground-breaking in November 2018 and will be following the progress of Ludlam Trail in the coming months.

In this SOMIonline issue we cover the opening of the Nikki Spoelstra Play Forest here in South Miami adjacent to city hall and the public library. And we return to informing our readers about the county’s renewed efforts to finish the Ludlam Trail.

We Tip our Hat to our local businesses which have earned special national recognition, and we welcome new businesses making an investment in our community. Congratulations and thank you.

We’re following The Edge of Sunset residential development on the west side of US1. The ten-story project on Sunset Drive will have 316 apartment units and ground level retail. SOMI will be covering other major projects which are reshaping our hometown.

Follow SOMI to “the best networking breakfast event in Miami” presented by Community Newspapers and hosted at CasaCuba. It’s always a packed house to hear from community leaders and network with area business people.

El Happy Breath coach’s exclusive articles prepared for SOMI readers have been much appreciated over the past couple of years. In this issue, read about “Grounding for the New Season: el HappyBreath for Peak Focus.”

And take note, SoMi Second Saturdays, an award-winning community event presented ty the city starts in third season in October. The event features a Night Market, a kids’ zone and live entertainment staged on 58 Avenue each second Saturday through April. Come out and have a great evening in town.

Enjoy the fall season and enjoy your South Miami experience.
