I DISCOVERED A NEW BREAKFAST PLACE
Ana V., Coconut Grove
I met a friend in South Miami for a late morning meeting and was invited to Clasica Victoria on Sunset Drive. What a delightful spot, kept immaculately clean and served excellent dishes. I enjoyed their Eggs Benedict; I know I’ll be back here.

BEST FRIES IN MIAMI
Peter L., Miami
I’ve walked past the falafel place on Sunset many times and observed their A-frame sign announcing how great their fries are. Well, I finally got to taste them, and the message is right. Double fried and served up with any number of sauces. And top this, a special hole in the table to hold the goodies. Nice job!

A LUNCHTIME FAVORITE
Stefano F., Pinecrest
I enjoy coming to Craft when I’m in the South Miami area. Pizzas are awesome and all their food presentations are always right-on. My absolute favorite sandwich is the prosciutto and mozzarella, prepared in a pizza dough roll. They have me hooked.

I see that the new apartment building across from Casa Cuba now has tenants moving in. The Avalon building certainly is a big change from Winn Dixie, where I’ve shopped for years. I can’t wait for the Fresh Market to open; I thought it would have been open sooner than this.

From what I read in SOMI and your SOMIblasts, while we have many outstanding businesses in South Miami, congratulations for two which are culinary standouts: Garcia-Nevett chocolatiers and the restaurant Recoveco. The chocolate shop was named the third best in the USA by USA Today, and the restaurant was selected one of the top 20 restaurants in the county by Bon Appetit. This certainly makes us all proud who call South Miami home. Thank you for your excellence!

So, what’s happening with Sunset Place? I thought the project was approved months ago, but I haven’t seen much action going on. When will this be demolished? What’s happening with the movie theatres, Game Time and LA Fitness? Construction will be a nightmare in the area for a number of years. End product should be exciting, getting there is the battle.
