The University of Miami’s elegant WATSCO Center Hurricane 100 room was a great venue for the ChamberSOUTH August General Membership breakfast, featuring guest speaker, the prominent Professor Ben Kirtman. Dr. Kirtman is a Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. He uses atmosphere-ocean general circulation models to study the predictability and variability of the Earth’s climate system. Dr. Kirtman is very active in scientific leadership both nationally and internationally. He serves as co-chair of the NOAA Climate Prediction Task Force and is a Coordinating Lead Author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Assessment Report Five.
ChamberSOUTH members and guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast while listening to Professor Kirtman address the crowd on climate change, a prevalent topic in Miami today, and this gave insight as to what we all can expect for the future of our city. The breakfast was generously sponsored by UM. For more information regarding climate change, you may wish to contact Professor Ben Kirtman at .
