PUT SOME SOUTH IN YOUR MOUTH, SOMI
Twelve months after completely gutting the 6,540 sq. ft. former Dan Marino’s location at the entrance to The Shops at Sunset Place, Brother Jimmy’s BBQ is now serving up some South here in SOMI.

Brother Jimmy’s, which started in New York City more than 20 years ago, serves up legendary Carolina, slow-smokin’ barbeque: authentic brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Drinks are served in mason jars, and customers enjoy a large bourbon and craft spirits selection. In fact, word has it the restaurant personnel travel to the Jack Daniel’s distillery to choose their own barrels to use on site.

The SOMI location will feature the same sports bar-meets-barbecu
e joint feel the brand is known for. There are forty-three big screen TVs, and outdoor bar, Jack Daniel barrel high-tops outside and soon sixty cafe seats outside as well.

Brother Jimmy’s is known for throwing down some serious parties like pig roasts, ladies nights, and mega football watch parties. Strategically located in proximity to UM, the Sunset Place location is a big draw, as Hurricane alumni are involved with the Miami locations. No stranger to the area is local football great Jonathan Vilma, who is principal investor in Brother Jimmy’s Miami, with locations in Brickell, now SOMI and soon the Dolphin Mall. Vilma went to Coral Gables High School, played for UM (2000-2003 Seasons), signed first round draft (2004) with the New York Jets, and played with the New Orleans Saints. He presently is an NFL Free agent

BONJOUR SOMI!
A favorite and quaint bistro on Red Road is now under new ownership. In January, Florence Riguidel acquired the eatery. Coming from Carrieres sur Seine some ten years ago, she and her family now live in the area.

Having a restaurant is a new venture for Florence, and she is thoroughly enjoying meeting her customers, cooking and creating a pleasing ambiance in the restaurant with flowers and French music. French wines are exclusively poured for the discerning dinner.
The key staff including chef Marie are still serving up some of the great specialties which La Crepe has become known: boeuf bourguignon, tarte tatin and more favorites.

Florence is offering a specialty crepe each week, and prepares other specials like salad de foie gras.

In venturing into La Crepe Bistro, Florence wanted to create something for herself which she can enjoy while at the same time creating a pleasing experience for those who dine. La Crepe Bistro is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch.
