My trip about town starts out at Sunset Place with the impressive opening of ZWECK Porsche boutique in the former location of Buffalo Wild Wings.

ZWECK partners, Alvaro Rodriguez and Suneal Nandrigam have opened their second location and have transformed the rear portion of Sunset Place into a spectacular showcase for all things Porsche. And while Sunset Place is undertaking a major and excitingly dynamic change coming to South Miami, in a way ZWECK points the way to the prominence South Miami will enjoy in the years to come. The ZWECK showcase is a class act. South Miamians know and appreciate the Das Renn Treffen event which started in SoMi a dozen years ago. Created by Rodriguez, his passion for Porsche is obvious as every detail in the new boutique showroom is so polished.
The new space brings ZWECK’s signature blend of Porsche automobiles, memorabilia, and curated lifestyle products to the heart of SoMi. Designed for a vibrant, forward-thinking community, ZWECK South Miami offers a dynamic retail experience that merges innovation with intention. The store is more than a dealership destination—it’s a community hub. With its prominent storefront on 57th Avenue, ZWECK is uniquely positioned to serve both locals and visitors through a boutique setting that includes a customer lounge and retail experience like no other.

This SoMi location also acts as a convenient drop-off and pickup point for their flagship 32,000 sq. ft. facility near The Falls. That main location houses their full vehicle inventory, a comprehensive service workshop for maintenance and performance upgrades, and an auto spa for all detailing needs.
At Sunset Place, the owners are excited to launch a series of on-site activations—from “Cars and Coffee” events to collaborative pop-ups and curated, invite-only gatherings—designed to foster a passionate, like-minded community around our purpose.
Take some time and pass by ZWECK, whether you’re searching for your next automobile, the perfect gift, or something special for yourself, ZWECK delivers an automotive retail experience unlike any other. ZWECK is open Monday through Saturday from 9a to 5p and Sunday by appointment.

And if looking great in a gleaming Porshe machine, imagine how you’ll look in a new custom-made suit or sport coat. A walk down Sunet Drive brings us to TWEEDS, a new destination for fine men’s custom fashion here in SoMi.
Tweeds is a concept created in Sarasota by Donald Carlson. With a background in the dry cleaning business for several years, in 2019 he began fitting men for custom made clothes in his specially designed custom truck. (PHOTO OF OWNER WITH TRUCK) His hands-on customer service, business acumen and commitment have taken his brand to nine cities in just the past six years: Sarasota, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Naples, Delray Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Fort Lauderdale. Opening on SoMi’s Sunset Drive this May represents his singular drive in building the Tweeds brand and mission. Carlson commented that “our growth into new markets is a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation in menswear. Our mission is to offer the best personalized, meticulously crafted suits.”

Moving further down on Sunset Drive to the corner of 59 Avenue (Dorn Avenue) a new concept FLIGHT WEST is coming into the SIMI Sushi location later this fall at 5894 Sunset Drive. We can’t wait!
Walking down Dorn Avenue and on to 73 Street, a new restaurant is in the final stages of getting ready to open in the former Khoury’s Mediterranean Restaurant site. Khoury’s was a big favorite in town for decades and the Khoury’s are enjoying a well-deserved retirement. Coming there will be SECRETO. Since 2009, Secretp has built its culinary reputation with a blend of exotic Latin flavors with the essence of Italian cuisine, which is their “secret.” We look forward to tasting their cuisine and writing about Secreto in an upcoming edition.

And the final stops on this walk about town bring us to the hustle and bustle of US1. In our last issue we introduced you to 107 TASTE, a wonderful Asian dining experience. Recently opened along the busy corridor is the very popular OAKBERRY Açaí destination.

And a little further south, stop in for a specialty Colombian coffee at ICONIK KOFFE, which is next to the popular SWEET LICHS.
While there have been a couple of starts and stops over the past couple of years, the entire corridor is now filling out nicely with main stays like THE SALTY and PURA VIDA. Another very popular eatery coming soon is SKINNY LOUIE at 6022 South Dixie Hwy. Great ready SOMI for the award-winning purveyor of smash’d burgers and milkshakes.
Enjoy your SOMI in town shopping and dining experiences.
By day, by night, SOMI is SO RIGHT.
