The Underline is the name given to THE project to create a 10-mile urban trail and linear park from the Miami River to Dadeland South.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

FRIENDS OF THE UNDERLINE<\/strong> is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization advocating to transform the underutilized land below Miami’s Metrorail into a 10-mile linear park, urban trail and canvas for artistic expression.\u00a0 We\u2019re gearing up for a busy year full of fun activities and events to keep the community excited about The Underline\u2019s future development.<\/p>\n

In February, FRIENDS OF THE UNDERLINE and BAPTIST HEALTH SOUTH FLORIDA present an interactive exhibit and community activities from January 22nd to February 28th\u00a0right here in our own backyard at SOUTH MIAMI HOSPITAL,\u00a06200 SW 73 Street, South Miami.<\/p>\nTypical representation of The Underline\nRendering of the South Miami Healing Garden along The Underline\nSouth Miami Hospital Director of Community Development Reggie Laroche in front of the SMH lobby display. Come by a take a \u201cselfie.\u201d\n

To illustrate the many things you can do along the future Underline, stop by the hospital lobby to see\u00a0the hospital lobby transformed into the \u201cSouth Miami Healing Garden,\u201d and take a \u201cselfie\u201d in front\u00a0of the image of the future trail and tweet about it to your friends.<\/p>\n

\nRead, Rest, Relax<\/i><\/strong>
\nVolunteers demonstrate that The Underline will be an ideal place to read and relax, health books courtesy Books and Books<\/p>\n

Friday, Feb. 12
\n12 noon – 2 p.m.
\nMake Some Energy<\/i><\/strong>
\nRide The Underline energy bike to power an iPod and make some music.\u00a0This will demonstrate the fun of bike riding and feature The Underline\u2019s future urban trail.<\/p>\n

Friday, Feb. 26
\n12 noon – 2 p.m.
\nLunch-Break Yoga by Richard Sherman<\/strong>\u00a0<\/i>The Underline will have programming along the 10-mile corridor including open air yoga and more.<\/p>\n

Then, don\u2019t miss the panel discussion on\u00a0TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23RD FROM 5:30p – 7:30p at
\nSOUTH MIAMI HOSPITAL\u2019S EDUCATION CENTER\u00a0featuring the topic Walk, Bike, Take Transit to Better Health.\u00a0Panelists include Dr. Ted Feldman; Alice Bravo, Miami Dade County Transportation Director; Maria Nardi, Miami Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Planning Chief; Meg Daly, CEO\/President Friends of The Underline as they talk about recent research that shows walking, biking and taking public transportation helps fight obesity and other health risks.\u00a0Sign up on Eventbrite here at this link .<\/p>\n
