LOWE ART MUSEUM
\nArtLab @ The Lowe | GER\u2022MANIA!\u00a0 <\/span>
\nApril 22, 2015 – May 10, 2016
\n<\/b><\/span>This edition of ArtLab @ The Lowe explores key artistic movements in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Germany and Austria. Visitors to the Lowe will have the unique opportunity to examine original works of art associated with German Symbolism, Austrian Expressionism, Surrealism, the New Objectivity movement, and German Fluxus. Exemplifying these critical periods are works by Germanic masters Max Klinger (1857-1920), K\u00e4the Kollwitz (1867-1945), Erich Heckel (1883-1970), Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), Max Ernst (1891-1976), George Grosz (1893-1959), and Joseph Beuys (1921-86); all of which are drawn from the Lowe\u2019s permanent collection, and all of which will be on view at the Museum from April 22, 2015 to May 10, 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Music and lyrics by Frank Loesser Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows<\/b><\/span>
\nFrank Loesser\u2019s celebrated 1950 musical comedy about rolling the dice and falling in love under the bright lights of Broadway returns to the Ring Theatre. Guys and Dolls takes us from Times Square to the cafes of Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n– THE SLAVIC SOUL
\n<\/b><\/span>Epiphany Choir and Orchestra celebrate the 175th Anniversary of this great Romantic master. Selected famous and less-known gems reveal the folklore heritage of Central Europe, as integrated into\u00a0these lively works. <\/span>The concert series is held at the\u00a0Church of the Epiphany, 8235 SW 57 Avenue.\u00a0<\/span>The concerts are free and open to the public.\u00a0For more information, please contact or call 305.667.4911.

ARTS IN SOMI
\n<\/b><\/h2>\n

SOMIartwalk<\/span>\u00a9<\/span> is held on the second Friday of the month from October through March.\u00a0 <\/span>We just completed our eighth season in presenting visual and performing arts on our sidewalks in the dining and shopping district of our South Miami Town Center as part of the SOMI Sidewalk Showcase.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

THE WIRTZ GALLERY<\/span><\/h2>\n

Located in the lobby of the First National Bank of South Miami, each month The Wirtz Gallery presents local & international artists.\u00a0 <\/span>Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday 9a-4p, and Friday, 9a-6p.\u00a0 <\/span>Artist receptions are generally held on the second Friday of the month from 6-9p and are open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\nPaul Marcelini\n

In April, the gallery will host nature photographer Paul Marcelini.\u00a0 <\/span>Growing up in Miami, Paul always loved the outdoors, and is always drawn to the water and the Everglades and not the glitz and glamor of the city.\u00a0 <\/span>Paul offers the unspoiled scenes of a wild and natural Florida.<\/span><\/p>\nHessam Abrishami\n

In May, the vibrant and dynamic contemporary painting of Hessam Abrishami will be on exhibit.\u00a0 <\/span>A native of Iran, in his childhood he was greatly influenced by the ancient history surrounding him.\u00a0 <\/span>He left his home land to expand his awareness of the outside, changing world.\u00a0 <\/span>His quest for artistic excellence took him to Italy where is pursued his higher education at the Academia di Belle Art Pietro Vanucci<\/i>,\u00a0 <\/span>in Perugia.<\/span><\/p>\n

OTHER ARTISTIC VENUES<\/b><\/h2>\n

Two retail locations in SOMI that have a unique artistic presence are <\/span>arango<\/b><\/span> and <\/span>The Archive<\/b><\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>Both are located on Sunset Drive, however at opposite
\nends of town.<\/span><\/p>\n

arango<\/b><\/span> has enjoyed over fifty years in presenting Miamians modern design in housewares, furnishing and accessories.\u00a0For decades, arango was a fixture at Dadeland. Last fall, arango went from the mall to main street (5864 Sunset Drive). The store regularly features exhibitions of modern design artists with their collections.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"The-Archives-Reception\"The Archive Fine Art & Collectibles<\/b><\/span> is located directly east of Red Road (1559 1\/2 Sunset Drive). The Archive shows a number of resident artists and exhibits featured artists on a periodic basis.<\/span><\/p>\n
