On May 7th there was a stream of \u201cOMG!\u201d \u201cOMG!\u201d <\/i>text messages coming from 74 Street & Red Road, as customers lined up outside of the new Honey Bee Donuts shop.\u00a0 It\u2019s here that Karen Muirhead, a\/k\/a, \u201cH.B.\u201d (Honey Bee), a life-long nickname, was living her dream to serve up happiness in the form of\u00a0a donut.<\/p>\n

After ten years working in corporate America as a human resources executive, H.B. decided to open up a business in her \u201chometown.\u201d \u00a0 Growing up in the South Miami area, she started baking at nine years of age, and it\u2019s been a happy journey for years thereafter.\u00a0 Karen would be actively involved in charity work at church and schools, serving up her prized donuts, and a fourth generation recipe short-bread cookie.<\/p>\n

In planning for her retail debut, she spent 1\u00a0 1\/2 years in recipe development. As a human resources professional, she selected her new staff from culinary schools.
\n\u201cDonuts are a great canvas,\u201d says H.B., and has designers on staff to work up new presentations.\u00a0 At Honey Bee Donuts, they serve locally-based Panther Coffee, make glazes in-house and also prepare Gluten-free donuts as well.<\/p>\n

Honey Bee Donuts is open Monday-Friday, from 7am to Sold-Out (generally around 3:30pm), and Saturday, 8am to Sold-Out.\u00a0 They are closed on Sunday.<\/p>\n
