\n<\/b>The remaining production in the\u00a079th Season of\u00a0the Ring Theatre is\u00a0Pirates of Penzance<\/b>.\"\"<\/b> <\/b>April 19 – 28\u00a0<\/b>Prepare to set sail off the coast of Cornwall with the swashbuckling Pirates of Penzance! Frederic has earned his dues as the pirates\u2019 apprentice waiting to be promoted to full pirate-dom on his 21st birthday, but upon discovery that he is a leap year baby born on February 29th, it seems he may never get the chance. This roaring comedy, one of Gilbert and Sullivan\u2019s most famous works, gets a fresh interpretation\u00a0on the Ring stage.<\/p>\n

Located in the lobby of the\u00a0First National Bank of South Miami, each month The Wirtz Gallery presents local & international artists.\u00a0 <\/span>Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday 9a-4p, and Friday, 9a-6p.\u00a0 <\/span>Artist receptions are generally held on the second Friday of the month from 6-9p and are open to the public.<\/p>\n

In April, the gallery will host nature photographer Brian Call, and in May, the Jamaican art works of Jacqueline Gopie will be exhibited.<\/p>\n

SHOWCASING TALENT
\n<\/b><\/h2>\n

The tenth anniversary season of SOMIartwalk concluded on March 9.\u00a0 <\/span>Over the last six months, from 6-9p the area business district opens its doors to artists, and visitors enjoy established and emerging visual and performing artists on the sidewalks throughout town until 10p.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unlike other communities which have multiple art galleries and host art night events, South Miami relies on responsive establishments and its tree-lined sidewalks to host artists.\u00a0 <\/span>Students from area schools join in the event and participate in the \u201cSOMI SIDEWALK SHOWCASE,\u201d featuring the visual and\u00a0performing arts.<\/p>\n

Participating as Host Venue Sponsors this year were: arango, Bhoom shanti, Isabel Fine Home Accessories, The Wirtz Gallery\u00a0at the First National Bank of South Miami, and the Tropical Audubon Society at the historic\u00a0Doc Thomas House.<\/p>\n

In this season, South Miami has hosted a number of student art groups joining us in the SOMI Sidewalk Showcase. Area students from the South Miami Senior High School, South Miami Middle School, South Miami K-8 Expressive Arts Magnet, Palmetto Elementary School, Palmetto High School, Ransom Everglades High School and Middle School, Cutler Ridge Senior High School, Doral Academy Charter School and Southwood Middle art students participated\u00a0in the program.<\/p>\n

SOMIartalk\u00a9<\/sub> is co-presented by the City of South Miami, ChamberSOUTH, The Shops at Sunset Place and SOMI Magazine and sponsored in part by Buffalo Wild Wings, the First National Bank of South Miami, JES Communications, Massage Envy Spa, Miro\u2019s Boutique, Splitsville Luxury Lanes, The Dog from Ipanema and Town Kitchen & Bar.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
