Marc-Jacobs

Another season has come and gone, and we’re still daydreaming about all the show-stopping power suits, head-to-toe animal prints and bold color palettes that kept us on our feet and wanting more. This fall season is expected to make a bold statement, filling the hearts of maximalists worldwide. As we decode this fall’s coveted fashions, we remind you to stay tuned this and every season for what’s hot.

Marc-Jacobs

We are mad for plaid and happy the trend isn’t going anywhere this fall. We saw oversized and micro plaid prints in an array of bold colors and a wide range of both fitted and baggy styles. The lovely checked plaid is going to replace the current striped and linear obsession we’ve become accustomed to this past spring/summer season. Some of the most noteworthy looks were at Michael Kors, where a mix of colors and textiles brought forth a chic-city vibe with a mix of Sahara cat realness. Marc Jacobs never disappoints, as his homage to reshaped 1980s couture was nothing short of extravagant. Bold shoulders, big bow belts, baggy pleated trousers, neck flourishes and ties were modernized and exaggerated in size. Think shoulders so wide, you might not make it through the door.

We loved the bold pops of color on the runway this season, but magenta stood out the most as the perfect hue to mix and match with everything in your closet. It has been coined the new statement color by fashionistas, and we just can’t get enough of it. Carolina Herrera paired magnificent magenta on a beautiful power suit, while Alexander Wang made a bold statement with it in miniskirts and one-piece rompers.

Another fan favorite this season was the power suit, a modern take on the classic tailored business version. We saw whimsical two-piece suits from Mary Katrantzou, bold atripes at Altuzzara, and neutral tones at Jason Wu. But our love for sequins remains strong as we transition from flirty spring’s sequin dresses to statement sequin suits for fall. These suits most definitely mean business and come approved as this fall’s “MUST HAVE” pairing. The Balmain Army reigns strong as Olivier Rousteing and his sequin-clad models took the runway by storm with feminine yet edgy silhouettes and blazers fit to kill. Meanwhile style maven Tom Ford’s Wild Cats brought out the most elegant pairing of animal print and sequin we’ve seen this side of the pond, giving the Italian houses a run for their money.

The revolving fashion wheel has hit its mark on the bold look of ‘80s fashion, and it seems as though it’s here to stay for quite a while. An homage to the classic couturiers of decades past, this season’s styles offer a feast of colors and prints for the hungry fashionistas of the world.
