On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez officially kicked-off the new BIKE305 collaborative initiative aimed to promote health and wellness through cycling and to proclaim March as being \u201cBike305 Month.\u201d The Bike305 initiative included a Bike to Work Day and a month-long calendar of events and activities for the public to enjoy by bike.\u00a0 Bike305 serves as another example of how the Miami-Dade County Parks and Open Space Master Plan continues to make strides in developing a more livable, healthy and sustainable Miami-Dade community.<\/p>\n

With mayors from municipalities situated along a 27-mile stretch of paved trails on the eastern edge of the County, partnering and participating in the ceremony at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center were: Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Key Biscayne Mayor Frank Caplan, Coral Gables Mayor Jim Cason, Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner, Palmetto Bay Mayor Shelley Stanczyk and Cutler Bay Mayor Ed MacDougall.<\/p>\n

Bike305\u2019s premier sponsor is AvMed Health Plans. Additional participating sponsors include: Mack Cycle and Fitness, the Everglades Bicycle Club, Bike Walk Coral Gables, University of Miami, UM BikeSafe, U-Bike, Green Mobility Network, Miami Bike Scene, and Emerge Miami.
