At the February General Membership Breakfast, Chamber South members and guests got to hear from two top regional educational leaders.\u00a0 Speaking to the audience were: Alberto M. Carvalho, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Schools and Dr. George L. Hanbury II, President\/CEO of Nova Southeastern University.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Chamber South is an annual priority of Superintendent Carvalho and the February meeting was held shortly after he was name the 2014 National Superintendent of the Year.\u00a0 He is a nationally recognized expert on school reform and finance who successfully transformed his district\u2019s business operations and financial systems with the implementation of a streamlined Strategic Framework focused on a singular goal of\u00a0student achievement.<\/p>\n

George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D. is the sixth president of Nova Southeastern University (Ft. Lauderdale), the nation\u2019s ninth largest private not-for-profit university.\u00a0 Since taking over in July 2011, he has built on the institution\u2019s legacy to elevate the university\u2019s standing to one of national prominence. He has set out eight core values to guide the university\u2019s future: Academic Excellence, Student Centered, Integrity, Innovation, Opportunity, Scholarship\/Research, Diversity and Community.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
