Summer 2014 brings record highs in the Fashion World. Designers flooded runways from NYC to Hong Kong with a hint of 1990’s Nostalgia. The use of in your face LOGOS and Slogans have made an evident comeback; Sporty chic day to night ensembles, the resurgence of Overalls, sandals paired with visible socks, and printed graphic T’s with an edge have caught the gazing eye of fashionistas around the world. What can I say kids, THE 90’s ARE BACK, AND WITH A VENGEANCE!!!!!

We start this 2014 SUMMER trend forecast with the resurgence of overalls. Casually styled and lived in overalls were all the rage on American Runways. DKNY went for the more nostalgic denim pieces and paired them with simple white collared shirts, a classic navy blazer, black belt and a pair of elegant ankle strapped heels for a smarter more casual look. Rag & Bone opted for a sportier chic look which incorporated monochromatic tones and geometrical lines. A mash up of mixed bangles, rings, and thin layered necklaces add a more street styled approach to your look, don’t forget your HOOPS!

Forget about hiding your socks underneath your clothing. This might even be considered an old-fashioned gesture very soon. Designs showcased by Prada, Saint Laurent and Zadig et Voltaire offered up a totally different perception of how we wear socks. From now on, “We need to show this piece of garment to people around us.” said Miuccia Prada. To start, we can pair them with simple items, without any extra embellishments. Contrast your sock colors with your trainers or do as Givenchy did, and take a more touristy approach with the classic Birkenstock slip on sandal in leather, with a floral print and a simple pair of tube socks. Who knows, maybe in a couple of seasons we will watch models come down runways adorned of rich multicolored or graphically printed pairs of socks.

We’ve also seen various slogan and textual prints gaining popularity this spring. It doesn’t really matter what is written on your shirt, coat, pants, shoes, and even socks; the very idea of the writings is what’s more important. So don’t get too picky when choosing your outfit: as long as it satisfies your fashion strivings, the item will read and speak loudly for its self. Looks presented by DKNY, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Moschino amazed audiences like never before. Heavy link gold toned chains and bracelets, large hoop earrings and layered rings turn up your high fashion urbanite look.

For a more comfortable, yet refined sport inspired look we turned to trend setters like Jean Paul Gaultier and KENZO. As brands they offer incredibly stylish clothing for ladies. But, an outfit with a sporty touch is what you definitely want to have this season. As quoted in the Steven Spielberg extension of the Indian Jones film “Americans are always overdressing for the wrong occasions.” Its summer time in the MIA, we have become the international port for style and fashion in the Americas. Channeling these chic European styles, a modern lady is no longer considered to be a housewife. Strong influences in comfort and street style took these designer looks for a morning jog with refined silhouettes. There is no better way to keep you in shape than a habitual morning workout in a stylish designer outfit. Don’t be scared to turn up your sporty looks with fresh pops of colors in bead necklaces and layered bracelets.

The ability to look refined in a chic and sporty summer look is all in the pairing of the pieces. Be bold, daring and don’t shy away from what you like. Loss of personal identity and style is simply depicted by stereotypes. Break the mold, Be yourself!
