\n<\/b>From tiny shack on South Beach, to a second location in Brickell, the My Ceviche brand is now in SOMI.\u00a0 Described as a modern interpretation of the typical cevicher\u00eda<\/i> found throughout Latin America, the\u00a0My Ceviche concept as a fast-casual restaurant is taking hold.<\/span><\/p>\n

Founded in 2012 by co-owners Roger Duarte and chef Sam Gorenstein, My Ceviche serves up Caribbean-style tacos, burritos, salads, and ceviche in a vibrant, beach-meets-city setting.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the signature menu items is My Ceviche Bowl, created by the chef that features a customer\u2019s favorite ceviche atop mixed lettuces, coconut jasmine rice, or cilantro quinoa. The only of its kind, the restaurant brings wild-caught seafood – and free-range chicken for those who prefer food \u201cfrom the land\u201d – to the table at affordable prices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both owners have been recognized by Forbes in the annual \u201c30 Under 30\u201d list (2012 edition): Roger as a top entrepreneur, and Sam as a top chef.\u00a0 And there are many other accolades as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

Duarte grew up in Monterrey, Mexico, studying finance at Suffolk University in Boston and at ITESM in Mexico.\u00a0 He followed his entrepreneurial drive, left the finance world and opened George Stone Crab in 2009, which is now My Ceviche\u2019s sister company. \u00a0 He and chef Sam teamed up to start My Ceviche.\u00a0 Gorenstein first started out as a teenager at Les Halles in Coral Gables, and over a few short years has earned recognition in New York and Miami Beach.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the SOMI location as the My Ceviche proto-type, they are set to continue to expand throughout South Florida with plans for further expansion in several major cities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The store has many products that are meant to heal, nurture and elevate the soul. The Soul Shop is an always growing and expanding line of products, music, tools, classes, and literature to raise our spiritual awareness.\u00a0 The Shop supports many different artists from around the world selling their one of a kind hand made products. When at all possible our artists try to use sustainable, recycled or organic products.<\/span>

As of late July, Tamra Gordon, has moved her long-established business to a new setting on 73rd Street across from Town Kitchen\/Bar.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

For over a decade, Cream had offered only the finest and most sought after personal care products, introducing luxury at its best.\u00a0 Under Tamra\u2019s ownership for the past eight years it has become the beauty destination in SOMI…. a place where you feel the immediate urge to pamper yourself.\u00a0 All the great brands came over with Tamra to the new location \u2013 including her trademark chandeliers.<\/span><\/p>\n

SOMI\u2019S NEW SMOKE SHOP<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The former cigar store, Vilar Cigars, on the corner of US1 at the entrance to our town center shopping & dining district, has new owners and a new name: South Miami Cigar & Wine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opening in mid-June, the store is owned by three partners, all of whom knew each other as members of the Miami Police Department.\u00a0 Manny Garcia and Gary Jackson join Miguel Freire in the new venture.\u00a0 Miguel, formerly of Cuban Crafters, has over 28 years in the cigar industry. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Downstairs the store features Torano, Camacho, My Father Cigars, Padron, Oliva, and Arturo Fuente. \u00a0 A beer & wine lounge is on the second floor of this grand historic building.\u00a0 Their grand opening with Rudy Padron is set for Friday, August 15.<\/span><\/p>\n

NOW THAT\u2019S ITALIAN!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Italian food is one of the most popular cuisines world-wide, and people appreciate the distinct cuisine of the many different regions.\u00a0 However, one region stands out for the popularity of its\u00a0 desserts, and that region is Sicily. One particular dessert is Sicilian cannoli, which originated in the Palermo area.<\/span><\/p>\n

And coming from that area one year ago to Miami is Massimiliano (\u201cMax\u201d) De Vincenzo.\u00a0 Max has just opened a Cannoleria Siciliana<\/i> at the entrance to The Shops at Sunset Place.\u00a0 His cart,\u00a0 which was manufactured in Sicily, is modelled after the old style ice cream cart.\u00a0 The cannoli shell, which is also from Sicily, is stuffed with impastata ricotta cheese.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The cannoli sells for $3.00 and espresso for $1.50. \u00a0Now that\u2019s a deal you can\u2019t pass up.<\/span><\/p>\n
