\n<\/b>Presented by the Frost School of Music, Festival Miami, is Florida\u2019s premeir live music festival, presenting some 30 concerts from October 10 to November 8th.\u00a0 The concerts feature international musical guest artists, master faculty artists, and award-winning student ensembles. Festival Miami concerts are categorized into four themes: Great Performances, Jazz and Beyond, Creative American Music and Music of the Americas.\u00a0 Concerts are held at the Gusman Concert Hall at the University of Miami.\u00a0 For ticket information call 305.284.4940.<\/p>\n

THE JERRY HERMAN\u00a0RING THEATRE
\n<\/b>Presents Carmen, A new Afro-Cuban musical in development by Mois\u00e9s Kaufman and Arturo O\u2019Farrill. Co-production with Tectonic Theatre Project. November 12 \u2013 23<\/p>\n

Be the first to witness this innovative adaptation of the world famous opera Carmen, written and directed by Tony nominated director Mois\u00e9s Kaufman. Set in Cuba in 1958, Carmen tells the story of a na\u00efve man who is seduced by a fiery woman and his subsequent downfall in her hands. This co-production with one of New York\u2019s premier theatre companies, Tectonic Theatre Project, will infuse an Afro-Cuban twist into the classic music\u00a0of Georges Bizet.<\/p>\n

LOWE MUSEUM<\/b>.
\nOn Exhibition through October 19, 2014\u00a0China\u2019s Last Empire: The Art and Culture of The Qing Dynasty Featuring more than 100 objects drawn from the Lowe\u2019s extensive collection of Asian art, China\u2019s Last Empire examines the art, culture, and religion of China\u2019s last Imperial dynasty, the Qing (1644-1912).\u00a0 The exhibition examines themes such as artistic production for the Imperial court and the literati (scholar-official) class; art and the Qing belief structure, including Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism; and China\u2019s cultural impact on Europe and East Asia through international trade.\u00a0 Organized by the Lowe Art Museum and curated by\u00a0Brian A. Dursum, Director and Chief Curator.<\/p>\n

\n<\/b>HABANEROS QUINTET
\n<\/b>Tuesday, October 28, 2014, 7:30 pm<\/p>\n

As part of their US tour, this vibrant and widely acclaimed ensemble, all members of The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, perform favorites with island flair. Their program includes Mozart\u2019s splendid Clarient Qiuntet and new arrangements of Cuban and South American compositions.<\/p>\n

The concert series is held at the Church of the Epiphany,

AT THE\u00a0<\/strong>WIRTZ<\/b> <\/b>GALLERY
\n<\/b>Located in the First National Bank of South Miami\u2019s lobby, each month the gallery presents local & international artists.\u00a0 Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday 9a-4p, and Friday, 9a-6p.\u00a0 Artist receptions are generally held on the second Friday of the month, from 6-9p and are open to the public.<\/p>\n

For the month of October, the gallery will host artist Terry Mulrooney, a South Florida fine art watercolor artist.\u00a0 Born in Venezuela, Terry Arroyo Mulrooney has made Miami her home since she was six months old. She comes from a rich artistic heritage that includes many successful artisans.\u00a0 Her favorite subjects range from European architecture, to children at play to landscapes from the Florida Keys.<\/p>\n

In November,\u00a0several members of\u00a0the Enamel Guild South\u00a0will showcase their\u00a0work at the gallery.<\/p>\n

The Area Stage Company<\/b> is a professional theatre company that speaks a language of passion; passion for its work and love for the idea of establishing an artistic legacy in the community. Presenting a wildly varied and exciting selection of dramatic works, music, dance, and art, developing new plays, and engaging in the duty of education, the company is directing a significant amount of its resources to formalize its commitment to younger generations of local artists.<\/p>\n
