\nThis exhibition, which includes a fully illustrated scholarly catalogue, highlights the diversity of Haitian visual art and the formal and thematic dialogue among Haitian and Haitian-American artists across generations and boundaries.<\/p>\n

The 2014-15 SOMIartwalk season\u00a9<\/sup><\/b>
\nHeld on the second Friday (6-9p) of the month, from October through March, Art Night visitors walking through our town center get to appreciate the visual and performing arts while also experiencing the uniqueness of our charming retail\/restaurant district. \u00a0 Host venues are from US1 & Sunset to Red Road, and east to the Dr. Thomas house, home of the Tropical Audubon Society. And along the sidewalks in town both established and emerging artists exhibit their work as part of the SOMI Sidewalk Showcase.<\/b><\/p>\n

AT THE<\/strong>\u00a0WIRTZ<\/b> <\/b>GALLERY
\n<\/b>Located in the First National Bank of South Miami\u2019s lobby, each month the gallery presents local & international artists.\u00a0 Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday 9a-4p, and Friday, 9a-6p.\u00a0 Artist receptions are generally held on the second Friday of the month, from 6-9p and are open to\u00a0the public.<\/p>\n

During the month of December, the Gallery hosts photographer Val Reibman. A local artist, Val has been selected to exhibit in both of the art festivals held in\u00a0South Miami.<\/p>\nElena Lasala “Ser Libre Oil on canvas.\n

Elena Lasala returns to the Wirtz Gallery in January for her second exhibition, her first was in 2007.\u00a0 Born in Mendoza, Argentina, she now lives and works in Miami. \u00a0 She studied at the LaLaguna University in the Canary Islands, Spain, and at the Contemporary Art Space in Mendoza, where she studies under artists Eduardo Gonz\u00e1lez, Eduardo M\u00e9dici and Hernan Abal.\u00a0 Of her work, Elena comments that \u201cI give myself to the discovery of what the canvas wishes to teach me\u2026and I let the feeling guide my sketch to reinvent myself both spiritually and esthetically.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Area Stage Company<\/b> is a professional theatre company that speaks a language of passion; passion for its work and love for the idea of establishing an artistic legacy in the community. Presenting a wildly varied and exciting selection of dramatic works, music, dance, and art, developing new plays, and engaging in the duty of education, the company is directing a significant amount of its resources to formalize its commitment to younger generations of local artists.<\/p>\n
