WHAT’S NEW IN TOWN

VERDE

“A sustainable way of life” is the tagline for this unique retail enterprise with refill stations and goods to help you live with less waste.

The concept started two years ago with a first location in Midtown.  Business partners Martha Balaguer and Pamela Barreza, who both have other full time jobs, recognized the need to reuse discarded containers.  Pamela noted that we “redefne how people live and shop, offering the option to make things right.”  At VERDE, a new kind of market, customers bring in containers and fill up with oils, seeds, nuts, cleaning products – actually more than 250 products.

With a new consciousness about sustainability, the business is driven by those who want to make a difference. “Often kids are pushing their moms to come by the market” notes Pamela.

Their mission is simply put: We strive to cater and supply Miami with plant based, organic and waste free products. We advocate for conscious consumerism and encourage our customers to bring their own containers and refill them at our bulk stations.

The SOMI Verde market is located at 7304 SW 57 Avenue, and is open seven days a week. https://www.verdemarketonline.com

LOOK!UP IN THE SKY!!
IT’S A BIRD,
IT’S A PLANE…

IT’S A PIG!

Flying in from Western Canada, where there are four other locations, the pig has landed in South Miami at The Shops at Sunset Place. As noted in their promotional literature, “the name ‘Flying Pig’ touches on the idea of making the impossible happen, dreaming big, and continuously aiming higher. It also alludes to our restaurant’s whimsical edge, and it is grounded in the simple idea of a good time.”  The menu offers a wide variety of beef, pork, chicken, pastas, salads and more. It has a full service bar. Open seven days.
