Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez led the March 6th Bike-to-Work Day kick-off event at Vizcaya Metrorail Station, demonstrating the ease of cycling to work, especially when combined with a trip on public transportation. The Mayor was joined by Miami-Dade Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, Bike305 partnering municipal mayors and sponsors and members of the cycling community.
On Bike-to-Work Day residents were asked to leave their cars behind, as an option to reduce traffic congestion and experience the stress-relieving health benefits of riding a bicycle. This annual signature event highlights a calendar of cycling activities during March, which is “Bike305 Month” in the county.
Bike305 is a collaboration of Miami-Dade County municipalities, Miami-Dade Transit, and cycling groups throughout South Florida, promoting healthy lifestyles and transportation alternatives through bike-friendly events, promotion of safe, connected bikeways, trails and greenways, and programs that teach safe-cycling skills to children and adults.
