MIAMI SWIM WEEK

As we wind down from an eventful Miami Swim week, we head back to the beach with a new outlook on trending styles in swimwear. With most events closed to the public and occupying the top spots all over South Beach, we’re bringing you the hottest looks from the most popular brands. From full neoprene body suits to barely there bikinis, beautiful collections kicked off the summer with a slew of styles that are as eye catching as the models who wore them.

The team at Luli Fama brought forth a tropical hippie chic vibe in designs ranging from colorful paisley and graphic prints to some bold knit and fringe pieces. Adorned with feathered hair wraps and butterfly body ink, the Fama girls looked as if they had just stepped off a panga and onto a secluded beach.

One-piece suits seem to have made a big comeback, as has the classic two-piece bikini with stylized tops. Similar styles and motifs were seen at Indah, Blue Life, CM Cia.Maritima and Maaji swimwear. Frankie’s Bikinis, another crowd favorite, showed a more playful collection with mix-and-match florals and Ikat prints paired with knit wear, giving the collection a laid-back feeling that borrowed from worldly travels infused with classic Americana. A hot trend spotted this season was the beach bride. Kaohs swimwear unveiled a full collection in appealing solid colors showcasing simple silhouettes, while Beach Riot delivered a very poignant story line with a memorable closing outfit. Similar pieces were seen at For Love and Lemons, Beach Bunny, and Baes and Bikinis.

A cool new trend we spotted on the runway seemed to have come from The Fifth Element, with models in very chic high-cut bottoms, thick full body neoprene suits, metallic body armor, and kaleidoscopic out-of-this-world graphic prints. Newly birthed LA based brand ‘Dos Gardenias’ had jaw-dropping versatile surf suits that are due to grace the cover of Maxim magazine any day. Aquarella paired metallic mosaics and sleek monokinis, while the troops at Minimale Animale, Chromat, and Filthy Haanz served up fierce looks for those not so shy of the stylish eye. It seems as though we ran the gamut at this year’s Miami Swim Week, all while dodging tropical downpours and blistering heat. Designers put their best foot forward with a broad spectrum of swimwear and beach-inspired fashion. It was hot, it was chic, and we didn’t miss a single moment of it. Check back with us next season as we bring you the best in style and fashion from the four corners of the globe.
