FOOTWORKS AT FORTY

It was May 15, 1973 that Laurie Huseby’s father, Sheldon Boehm, opened up an Earth Shoes store in the very spot where today is FootWorks.

Speaking from the heart as he always does, John “Hans” Huseby thanks the well-wishers.

Now a third-generation family business focused on training people to run for their health, Hans and Laurie first started a runners club in 1977 with 12 members.  Since then, they’ve organized running events throughout South Florida and started Team FootWorks in 1994.  Through that organization, they organize marathon training events, weekly “fun runs,” fitness programs and yoga classes. An estimated 1,000 people participate in Team FootWorks programs every year.

South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard presents the Key to the City to the Huseby family, with Vice-Mayor Josh Liebman looking on.
